A fresh growler of Paradox Beer, from right here in Schroon, is part of a bet (featuring other North Country goodies) between Assemblyman Dan Stec (R-Queensbury) and Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt (R-New Windsor) if Army loses in Saturday's Army-Navy football game.

According to a report in The Chronicle, Stec, a Navy veteran representing Whitehall, the birthplace of the U. S. Navy, is a fan of the Midshipmen.

More from the Chronicle:

“If Navy loses he'll present Schmitt with food and beverage staples of the 114th Assembly District, including cider donuts from Hicks Orchard in Granville, a growler from the Paradox Brewery in Schroon Lake, a pie from the Noonmark Diner in Keene Valley, beef jerky from Oscar’s Smokehouse in Warrensburg, and wine from the Adirondack Winery in Lake George. He has also pledged to wear an Army.

Schmitt, an active member of the Army National Guard who also represents West Point in the state Assembly, has put his wager behind the Black Knights. If they lose he'll present Stec with a growler from Rushing Duck Brewery in Chester, coffee from Noble Coffee Roasters in Hamptonburgh, a bottle of I Love NY wine from Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, apple cider donuts from Jones Farm in Cornwall, and pie from Soons Orchard in Wawayanda. He's also promised to wear a Navy hat”.

Army currently enjoys a three-game winning streak in the series, but Navy is having the better year with a record of 9-2, while Army sits at 5-7 on the year. The Army-Navy game kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 14 and will be broadcast on CBS. (For the record: CNET is a division of CBS.
