From the organizers:
The Organizing Committee is taking the Corona virus quite seriously and our planning is very much centered around that. Paramount in our planning is the health and safety of the runners, those that accompany them, our volunteers as well as our entire local community.
Adirondack Marathon Course will fundamentally be the same as in past years. What will be different will be the start. Rather than have hundreds of runners assemble in the center of town for an 8:00 – 9:30 am start we will ask them in advance of the race to give us their time goal and we will release runners in rolling waves in an effort to create social distancing.
Adirondack Half Marathon Course has been redesigned to eliminate transporting runners from Schroon Lake to the start line in Adirondack. The “new” course will begin near the traditional finish line in Schroon Lake, run south on Route 9 to and through Scaroon Manor Campground. There about 1.6 miles within this gorgeous wooded property offering lake views and then back to Schroon Lake Village to the traditional Marathon and Half Marathon finish lines. Similar to the marathon with an 8:30 – 9:00 am start, we will ask runners to give us their time goal in advance of the race and we will release runners in rolling waves accordingly.
Two and Four Person Adirondack Marathon Relays will be run on the Half Marathon Course. Both members of the Two Person Relay will run the Half Marathon Course and both will start at the same time and their total time will be calculated.
Four Person Relay legs 1 and 3 will run from Schroon Lake Village to Scaroon Manor with both runners starting at the same time and legs 2 and 4 will run from Scaroon Manor back to the finish line with their total time being calculated.
Cancelled: the 5k and 10k events as well as the Pasta Dinner have been cancelled for 2020 and we will not have spectator busing for this year’s event.
Pricing for all 2020 race events are being held at the “before May 1st” price levels until June 20th.
Due to the uncertainty of what may happen between now and race weekend, including race cancellation, many of the runner “perks” will be scaled back (no shirts, bears, syrups), but we will have a 2020 medal. In the event of cancellation defer to 2021 with no deferral fee. Runners may choose a refund of their race fee minus the Active.com processing fee or donate their race registration fee (in which it will become a tax-deductible contribution to the Adirondack Marathon).
