The Schroon Town Hall, Library and Court had their doors locked to the public Monday morning. This follows Sunday’s announcement the Schroon Lake Central School is suspending classes.

A notice posted on the Town Building’s front door listed phone numbers to call for key town personnel whom the public might need to contact.

And there’s a growing list of Schroon businesses that are closing: As of this writing the Schroon Lake Bait Shop, Rowes Cabins and the Schroon Lake Wellness and Massage Center.

Flanagan’s cancelled St. Paddy’s Day and is closing. Witherbee’s Carriage House  extended their Spring Break Cleaning until April.

We’ll report other closings once we hear about them or if you know of any, please leave a comment.

Schroon Lake Dog Of The Week: Nola The "Dack Dog"

dogoftheweekpart2.jpg

JoAnne Piterniak nominates Nola!

More From Joanne:

I nominate none other than my Nola Jean Castleberry, my husband Bill's "other woman" for Schroon Lake Dog of the Week. She's not called "Dack Dog" for nothing! Nola enjoys time at the "Dack Shack", our camp in North Hudson, and particularly enjoys wading in the river, walking with her parents and sitting by the campfire. She's getting older gracefully (12 in December!) and she can't see, hear or run around like she used to, but she is #1 in our hearts!

Here's a photo attached of her enjoying Schroon Lake's very own town beach, (above) and a bonus photo of our girl visiting with Santa.
