Canadian Rock-Folk Band RPR Plays Schroon Tuesday

RPR, a Canadian folk-rock band known for its amazing live shows, closes out the Tuesday night Boathouse summer concert series, proudly sponsored by the Schroon Lake Arts Council.

From the band’s official bio:

“RPR, known for its soaring vocals and huge harmonies, showcases several genres of music .Running the spectrum from stirring anthems to whisper-gentle ballads, RPR’s songs evoke joy, tears and laughter with a dynamic tapestry of musical styles that range from folk, rock and blues traditions in unique and refreshing ways. It’s cinematic storytelling from four captivating songwriters.

Together since 2012, RPR have regularly played throughout Canada and the US, as well as three UK tours to date. Appearing on festival stages, concert series, music halls, theatres, town halls and beyond, RPR continue to win new fans along the way.
The band has released two CDs, Trans Atlantic in 2013 and the latest, Longview. The new record features twelve songs that showcase the songwriting and musicianship like never before.

The Manchurian Candidate Comes to Schroon's Seagle Music Colony

This week The Seagle Music Colony continues to bring new opera to the stage with the east coast premiere of The Manchurian Candidate, which opens on Wednesday night.

NCPR’s Todd Moe talks to Seagle Artistic Director Darren Woods and the opera’s librettist Mark Campbell about this new work, based on the novel by Richard Condon.

Welcome Trail Break at Schroon Lake

Trail Break at Schroon Lake open for lunch and Dinner

*UPDATED WITH CORRECT HOURS
The wait is finally over: Schroon’s newest restaurant and bar “Trail Break at Schroon Lake” is officially open for business. Their location is the former site of Drakes, which in recent years has experienced good and not so good times. After a two day “soft opening” TB@SL’s hours are:

*Sun-Thurs 11:30 am to 10 pm

Fri-Sat 11:30 am to 11 pm

And a huge welcome and congrats to entrepreneurs Barry Pitkin and Teal Smith-Pitkin.

They purchased the property in 2018 and have been in renovation overdrive transforming the restaurant, bar and motel rooms until just a few days ago. The bar features 20 taps and a new menu, which we’ll have more details on in the days ahead. What’s different about TB@SL is that unlike Drake’s, the y are opening for lunch and dinner.

And for electric car drivers there’s an electric car charging station – the only one for 40 miles. Watch this space for more information in the days ahead.

Double Header Sunday in the Park in Schroon

This Sunday music and comedy imrov takes center stage for the new event, Sunday in The Park.

From 12pm - 1pm Chris South performs with his Ukulele, followed by the comedy improv geniuses from MopCo Improv. Theater.

These events are family friendly and FREE.
