Schroon Lake: Movie Capital of the Frozen North

Starting Saturday, (January 7) our hamlet becomes a movie mecca for the next few weeks, with two destinations to get your Hollywood fix.

Tomorrow, the Schroon Lake Library kicks off its annual Winter Movies On Saturdays, with the showing of Ice Age: Collision Course at 12:30 pm  and Wild Oats, at 7 pm. You can see the full schedule for January and February, by clicking here.

In addition, The Schroon Lake Central School is also getting into the (sister) act with a new Community Movie night, we hear from Principal Steven Gratto. From Mr. Gratto:

“The Schroon Lake Central School is planning Friday Night at the Movies to provide entertainment for residents during the winter months. Starting on January 13, the school will offer high-rated movies on its large screen in the auditorium.

The first screening will be Brooklyn, a movie that received three Oscar nominations including best picture. The complete schedule is as follows:

Brooklyn: January 13
Bridge of Spies: January 20
Social Network: January 27
The Intern: February 3


Movie nights are free of charge and families and adults are welcome. Children younger than 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
