Best of The Adirondacks 2016: Right Here in Schroon
/
We are happy to report three Schroon Lake destinations have made it into the Best of the Adirondack’s magazine June edition.
Congrats go to the following who all took runner up honors:
Best Furniture Maker: Adirondack’s Rustic Gallery
Best Bed and Breakfast: Tumble Inn, Schroon Lake
Best Outdoor Dining: Sticks and Stones Wood Fire Bar and Bistro, Schroon Lake
We caught up with two of the winners today who were both very surprised and very happy.
Adirondack’s Rustic Gallery founder Barry Gregson, took time out of his long day in his workshop to express disbelief about the nod. “It is great and we are grateful,” Barry told Schroon Laker.
“We were a big deal back in the 1980s, but then the publicity dropped off. I didn’t even know that there wasa contest where people could vote. We only learned about it last night when some customers of ours called.”
Barry has been in the rustic furniture making business for 33 years. By far his signature item is his stick chairs, which he estimated he’s made around 2,800 of them. For one restaurant alone he made 100, then another 100 when the place burned to the ground.”
“I’m just happy that people have recognized us and I’m happy to get the chance to glue sticks together”.
Sticks and Stone’s co-founder Steve Holmes was equally stunned. “ I knew there something like this out there, but never paid much attention. We are very happy about this honor. It shows we have a lot of fans out there who took the time to vote”.
“It’s nice going into our fourth summer here having this.
We’ve gota call into Nancy and Larry at the Tumble Inn. This exquisite B&B is no stranger to the Adirondack mag’s Best Of The ‘Dacks list, having won the category for the last two years. You can read about it by clicking here.
