Under spectacular clear blue skies, 72 youngsters cast their rods at the annual Schroon Lake Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, hoping for a shot at glory – aka the Big Green Inflatable Swim Toy!

And the 2014 Grand Champion with Largest Fish was Ambrose Tuper, with a big black bass.

The Derby is cosponsored by the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club and the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. This year Mr. P’s Mountain Smokehouse, Sticks and Stones and Flanagan’s Pub also contributed Gift certificates.

"72 kids, up from last year. A glorious sunny day. Lots of fish caught. 200 hot dogs consumed. Lots of 3 - 4 - 5 year olds that caught their very first fish. Too much fun!"
