Mainstage Season at the Oscar Seagle Memorial Theatre

Evita

By Andrew Lloyd-Webber – July 3, 5, 6 at 8 pm, July 5 at 2 pm

Watch the rise and fall of one of Argentina’s most beloved political figures Eva Peron. She ascends the social ladder from a life of village poverty to fame and fortune first as a model and actress, and ultimately as the second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron, where she was active in both politics and charity work before her tragic demise. When this powerhouse lady delivers the iconic “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” you’ll see why Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita won seven Tony Awards, including the first British musical to earn a Tony for Best Musical.

The Marriage of Figaro

By W.A. Mozart – July 17, 18, 20 at 8 pm, July 19 at 2 pm

Based on the hilarious play by Beaumarchais, this Mozart jewel follows the antics of the valet Figaro and his bride Susanna. The entire opera takes place in a single day as the happy couple outsmarts their employers (both the greedy Count Almaviva and his long-suffering wife), their friends – and even each other – to make it to their wedding night. Packed with popular arias, witty comedy, and a sassy female heroine, you don’t want to miss this action-packed journey to Seville!
Sung in Italian with projected English supertitles.
Pre-Show lecture – 1 hour prior to curtain.

The Manchurian Candidate

By Kevin Puts & Mark Campbell – July 31, August 1 & 3 at 8 pm, August 2 at 2 pm

Decorated Korean war veteran Sergeant Raymond Shaw is brainwashed into becoming a KGB assassin in an elaborate plot to overthrow the US Government. Will his former fellow soldier be able to break through and stop him in time? A political thriller based on the 1959 novel by Richard Condon, this opera is the highly anticipated second collaboration by Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell, the team behind the Pulitzer-winning Silent Night.
Sung in English with projected English supertitles
Pre-show lecture – 1 hour prior to curtain.

Oklahoma!

By Rodgers & Hammerstein – August 14, 15, 17 at 8 PM, August 16 & 17 at 2 PM

It’s 1906 in the Oklahoma Territory, and the stubborn country gal Laurey is courted by two men – the dashing cowboy Curley, and the sinister farmhand Jud Fry. Who will win her basket at the Box Lunch Social, and her heart? This, the first of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s many successful collaborations, will have you humming along and wishing for a beautiful mornin’ in no time.

Boathouse Productions

Monkey & Francine in the City of Tigers

Children’s Opera – July 13 at 10:00 and 11:30 am – Boathouse Theater
By Kamala Sankaram & David Johnston

Utilizing music from both Western and non-Western styles, Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers is an action-packed tale of bravery, smarts, and family ties. Brave Monkey and clever Francine work together to escape the clutches of a dishonest Crocodile and the evil Lord and Lady Tiger to save their family and their kingdom. Their teamwork and bravery show them and their parents that when they work together, they can do anything.
