Schroon And Beyond: The Big Memorial Day Weekend 2015

There are many new and exciting developments since the holidaymakers, summer people and second homeowners were last here. So sit back and relax and enjoy our guide to the Memorial Day Weekend Countdown.

First off  -- did you notice our brand, spanking, newly repaved Route 9? It's one nice, much more quiet ride from Schroon to Pottersville. Which will help you arrive in style to the dozens of activities in our area this weekend.

The week kicks off on today (Tuesday, May 19th) with a BBQ  at the Schroon Lake Central School with their class of 2016  “backyard BBQ”.  After, stick around for the school’s Spring Concert!

Also on Tuesday night members of the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce will gather for their Spring Social at the Jellystone Park in North Hudson.

The Schroon Lake Citizen or Organization will be also be announced Tuesday night.

On Wednesday the SLCS Class of 2017 is hosting a concert with  alum Ritch Ortiz in the auditorium at the SLCS. It’s gonna be an amazing show and we hope you can make it. ($7 for adults, $5 students and $20 for a family.

On Thursday and Friday The Mountainside Christian Academy presents Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. The show starts at 7pm and tickets are $7 and $5 for kids and can be purchased through the Box Office at(  518) 532-7129 ext. 102 or at the door. There a few dessert tickets as well. First come, first served!.

Also on Thursday, the performers of the best Open Mike Night in the Adirondacks shine from 6.30pm at Witherbee’s Carriage House. Mark Piper runs the show. If you haven’t  been part of this, you are in for a treat!

Also Thursday True North Yoga is hosting their circle of giving and receiving supportive, relaxing and healing energy at the monthly Reiki Share and Healing Circle. All attunement levels and energy modalities welcome. 7pm. Click here for more details. 

On Friday our friends at Paradox Brewery kick off their holiday weekend activities under the big top beer tent.

The PDX tasting room/tent opens Friday  4 pm from – 7 pm, Saturday 12pm – 6pm  & Sunday  12pm – 4pm.

On Tap is their fine Off Trail Series Belgian, Off Trail Classic Stout, Winter Lager, Beaver Bite IPA, Overbite Imperial IPA, Pilsner, and the Red!

There’s an all you can eat pasta bar at Witherbee’s in the loft. 

Saturday there are various events around town. The BIG ONE will be the annual Lions Club Garage sale and raffle, at the Boathouse on Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrate spring by taking a ride at the Circle B Ranch. The ranch officially opens this weekend On their website you can find discount coupons.

Friends of the Schroon Lake Library will have their newly redesigned used book store open. Come check out the new space and HUGE book selection.

There’s an arts and crafts fair at the town park near the Band Stand, the Schroon Lake EMS will have one of their rigs on display outside the Glens Falls Bank.

It’s a huge night for music lovers on Saturday with two big events. The front lawn at Sticks and Stones will be turned into a giant concert space with the North Country’s premiere rockers Willie Playmore.

At Witherbee’s there’s a special encore presentation of Open Mic night, billed as the official “Summer Kick Off Open Mic” to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project”. DVDs will be for sale from a concert filmed at Witherbee’s last year with all proceeds benefitting the Harry Chapin Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. There’s food specials all weekend.

On Sunday at Witherbee's the music continues with a performance by Curtis and Carla @ 7pm in the loft!
