Stephen Gratto is not your typical high school superintendent. By day, he oversees one of the North Country's finest learning institutions, the Schroon Lake Central School.
The rest of the time he's a talented performer. And the talent gene runs in the family. Mr. Gratto is joined by his sons Schuyler (17), Gabriel (14), and Christian (11) in a family variety show!
And on Tuesday you can see Mr. Gratto and his sons perform a free family show at 10am at the Boathouse. This event is proudly sponsored by the Schroon Lake Arts Council. More from the SLAC:
"His performances are fast-paced and exciting displays of many classic vaudeville and circus skills including juggling, unicycling, rope walking, object balancing, and many other feats of daring, bravery, and side-splitting foolishness.
The high point of each performance is invariably the audience participation. Almost every portion of the Stephen Gratto Variety Show involves audience volunteers, both young and old. This continual interaction keeps everyone involved and laughing. Stephen is truly a jack of all trades and a master of many."
So come on out!
This is a week where Schroon's reputation as the music capital of the Adirondacks is on full display.
First up, it's Monday night's open mic acoustic jam session at the Scroon Lake Boathouse. This event is proudly sponsored by the Scroon Lake Arts Council.
Tuesday the Arts Council presents Patchouli and Terra Guitarra -- master guitarist Bruce Hecksel and singer-songwriter, guitarist Julie Patchouli at 7:30 pm at the Boathouse.
Thursday it's Witherbee's amplified Open Mic Night with Mark Piper.
The premiere event is Sunday's Adirondack Folk Music Festival from 12 noon-5 pm in the Schroon Lake Town Park. This is another production from the hard working volunteers at the Arts Council, who share this:
"Come by land or by sea (lake) to this FREE open air event. The Schroon Lake Arts Council is excited to host their 28th Annual Adirondack Folk Music Festival. This year's festival will include musical groups: Atwater ~ Donnelly, Catamont Crossing, Three Quarter North, Larry Ebere, and for a bit of excitement we have included Stephen Gratto & Sons Juggling Act.
This is free family event that is open to the public and we hope that everyone will join us in the park at the Bandstand in Schroon Lake on Sunday, August 13 from noon-5pm
